Monitoring that only happens before renewals

Calendar and notebook on a desk

Many fintech policies promise annual vendor reviews. In practice, the review calendar hugs renewal dates. Between renewals, incident tickets sit with engineering, performance dips are absorbed by operations, and risk never sees a consolidated note.

During ongoing monitoring assessments we ask for evidence between renewals: escalations raised, SLA credits claimed, assurance updates filed when a vendor announced a breach. Empty folders between anniversary months are a finding — not a scheduling preference.

Useful monitoring is lighter and more frequent for critical vendors, and tied to events (outages, scope changes, new geographies) rather than only to invoices. Soft Techlab helps teams reset that cadence so residual risk is owned year-round.
